Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group invests in the virtual future

Rail technology full-service provider underlines its innovation strategy with investment in "mixed reality" technology leader NXRT.

Bregenz/Zurich/Vienna, 20 November 2020 - The internationally active rail technology business Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group (RSRG) is investing in the leading simulation provider NXRT. "Digital technologies from the fields of virtual, augmented or mixed reality - such as VR, AR and MR - hold great opportunities for us," says RSRG Managing Director Thomas Bachhofner, explaining the move. "The agreed cooperation will secure valuable know-how in these areas and will enable us to work target-oriented on new business models".

The focus will mainly be on products and services in the safety sector, which is of great importance for the construction and maintenance of railroad infrastructures. NXRT has for instance developed high-precision virtual simulations that allow real vehicles to be used as simulators. The first joint initiatives, such as training train drivers, are now being evaluated.

The technology company NXRT is headquartered in Vienna and Lower Austria and will utilise the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group's investment primarily for the growth of the young company, which was founded in February 2019, as CEO Lukas Stranger explains: "The investments will help us to recruit new staff, evaluate further technology potential together with customers in the railway sector and establish new locations in Germany, a market that is important for us".
