Railway control, safety and communication systems

A wide variety of control and safety technology components are required to safely run a railway.

Railway control and safety systems

A distinction is made between interlocking technology and train control systems. Both interlock and ensure that trains can run on existing track systems.

What we can do for you:

We offer the following services when it comes to the installation of train control systems

  • Assembling switch drives and their safety components
  • Level crossing components (magnetic rail contacts, vehicle sensors, wheel sensors)
  • ETCS (European Train Control System) equipment: GSM-R equipment, balise assembly

Railway control and automation systems

Here at Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, we have developed a modular control technology for monitoring and controlling electrical systems. This highly scalable system is based on modern automation components and can be easily integrated into our customers' existing systems. We implement a wide range of communication protocols for telecontrol connections. A modern visualisation solution, which can be seamlessly integrated into the overall system, is used as a remote operating or monitoring level. The process connection for the local acquisition of information and implementation of control commands is carried out using "intelligent terminals" or remote automation units, adapted to their respective uses.

What we can do for you:

  • Tunnel control systems:
Monitoring tunnel sections requires a wide variety of monitoring and control systems - e.g. doors/gates, air conditioning systems, pumps, ventilation systems, and lighting components that are centrally managed and monitored.

Telecommunication systems

Communication systems are of great importance when it comes to safety, especially in tunnels. They require emergency telephones, landline telephones, alarm systems, radio systems (analogue, digital), network technology or GSM/UMTS/LTE networks. If an ETCS Level II train protection system is installed, a GSM-R network is used to transmit data to the driver's cab.

At Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, we plan and supply complete systems for data transmission or railway communications, based on modern communication technology, including copper, optical fibre, and radio technology.
